Building the trash radio set

I'm going to describe one occurrence from my life, which occurred during a childhood of mine and has served as an idea for initializing some marvellous visions which intending to grow up in global missions. In the seventh class of the primary school the teacher of the Technical practice has been presented us the simplest radio set receiver - detector. Detector consists of coil connected in parallel to manually adjustable capacitor. This parallel oscillator circuit, was connected by the serial detection diode to the high resistive earphones. This simple device represents the base for the radio set receiver devices. After the school, I've got an idea to try to construct this simple device on my own. On the common garbage place of the block of the buildings where I used to live, I've found almost everything I needed: the capacitor from the old transistors radio set, the wire of some old transformer somebody started to disassembling that, which I've carefully prepared for winding a coil, a peace of wooden plate which I've used as a carrier for the components and the stick from the old dust broom as a body of the coil. I've kicked the stick of the old dust broom placed over the stone edge aside the street with the foot until it brakes. On the wooden plate I've draw down the simple schematic diagram of the circuit. In the connection nodes I've hammered the nails, which I've found in the fathers toolbox. With soldering stick of 350 W of power, I've hard soldered the cooper wire on the top of the nails. I've connected the adjustable capacitor and the coil I've been winded it on the peace of the old dust brooms stick. I've just missed a detector diode and high resistive earphones to assemble my radio set receiver complete. Then I was suddenly enlightened with awareness that my neighbour uncle Mile who was radio amateur probably has the components I've needed to finish it. Without to hesitate, I've knocked on his door. Uncle Mile was very happy to see me and he loved this what I've already made. He has started immediately to search for the missed components so we could complete the radio detector set.

As an experienced radio amateur, it was not hard to him to find the equivalent solution for the missing detector diode, so he reused the old fashion PNP germanium transistor AC540 connecting its base and emitter pins instead of the diode. Furthermore it was necessary to provide the ground and antenna. Instead of antenna, uncle Mile has been connected one coil side using a peace of wire to the empty bean's box, which remained from the lunch and stand under the window. Instead of the ground he has picked the other peace of wire connected to the opposite coil side within the fresh potato of the middle size inside, still dirty of the earth where it use to grow. When he's connected the earphones, we're able to listen the music from the numerous radio stations of the middle frequency band. Some of them had very strong signal. Sometimes, the signal disappeared and it was necessary to readjust the capacitor in order to find the best sound. In this moment at home arrived the son of the uncle Mile, a friend of mine Souly, who also loved this device obviously made on the scratch of the parts from the trash. The device was the real garbage hardware. Afterward, a friend of mine, Souly the son of uncle Mile, had told the children of the block, that I've made the radio set from empty bean's box, fresh potato and broken stick of the old dust broom and he's listened the music from this radio set... and nobody has believed him.

Nowadays, I'm also on the way to make electric devices mostly assembled of the components from the recycling. This time it is not about the simple radio set device, it is about electrical power generator without moving parts. This generator compounded of the recycling parts does not unclean the environment, in opposite it can serves for cleaning the environment, reducing the quantity of the trash dumps, providing the necessary electrical energy for recycling the trash, providing the cheep material for the industry and saving many for electric bill simultaneously. Used as the power source for driving the electrical heaters, it could spare cutting the forests and misusing the wood for producing the heating energy, as well as lowering the emission of the CO2 in the atmosphere.

I hope that this time the adult "children" are going to belief me enough and maybe even are going to try to remake such similar devices themselves if they are adult enough to do that safely.
