Power transmissions

Power transmission system is used for translating the high-speed low-torque into low-speed high-torque ratio, as well as to allow for smooth enough step up and down gear mechanic to cover the wide range of speed to torque ratio. For our extremely high-speed bladeless turbine we would need however inconvenient power transmission system. The best results could be achieved using several steps to translate the power, depends on working speed of load. If we concern to use the standard loads, then we would need to introduce the new step in power transmission between high-speed turbine and existing power gear working speed, thus the working speed of previous used turbine. On this purpose the best choice is wheel transmission based on adhesive force similar to the working principle of bladeless turbine. In this particular case, the best transmission fluid could be hydraulic oil, Maximal transmitted power, as well as speed ratio depends on surfaces of transmission wheels. The inner surfaces of power transmission hydraulic case, as well as outer surfaces of the power transmission wheels are covered by Teflon layer, to lower the adhesive force between the inactive surfaces. The power transmission wheels must not be, but could be of high weight, depends on need. The wheels could be made of aluminum, similar to bicycle wheel, covered by thin sheets, or even though, could be made of steel or combined materials, depends on need. 

 

Since the transmission ratio from 10,000 to 1,000 amounts 10:1 the three stage power transmission shown at the image above has to be smaller then twice in diameter, in order to achieve the transmission ratio of 4:1 and 2.75:1 to get in result 10:1 power transmission ratio. Therefore, the smaller wheel is going to break the bigger one in one half of cycle. To avoid losses, it would be possible to introduce the trace shield as shown at the schematic diagram. This kind of simplified power transmission could be used in combination with classical power gears and high speed bladeless Tesla turbines. The maximal amount of power is going to determine the size of transmission wheels. Selecting material of which the wheels are made of, determine their weight, which depends on particular application. If we concern, accordingly to the experience with another hydraulic power transmission systems, that the maximal power transmitted depends on surface amount powered by five, then it would be necessary to count with losses in transmission using oversized turbine, in order to keep the power transmission, thus whole application relatively small in size, or to count with big size wheels, since the far the wheel diameter across one meter, the resulted maximal power dramatically increase. The weight of output wheel could be pretty high in order to store enough kinetic energy within, and translate it into the mechanical power on the shaft. This conclusion has to be proven in test environment. Anyhow, the suggested power transmission could be very useful because of its simplicity and low price. We could remember that similar power transmission has been already in use not so long time ago, thus the knowledge based on experiences is already given just has to be implemented.

Suggested power transmission combined with planetary gear, or some another kind of gear, could be used along with optimized bladeless Tesla turbine in order to achieve even unexpected high power in results by optimizing the power plants simultaneously generating the clean energy, as well as in optimyzing motors for transportation vehicles.
